Apple has announced the M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets during its ‘Unleashed’ event. These are the next generation chipsets that have been introduced after the success of the M1 that was launched in the market last year which offers 70 percent faster CPU speed. Notably, they still run on 5nm process technology, but come with a system-on-a-chip (SoC) architecture with integrated memory, superior performance per watt and incredible power efficiency- With this comes an increase in memory bandwidth and capacity.

The M1 Pro offers up to 200GB/s of memory bandwidth with unified memory support up to 32GB. Talking about the M1 Max, it offers up to 400GB/s of memory bandwidth. 2x that of the M1 Pro and almost 6x that of the M1 – and support for up to 64GB of integrated memory. These also include the Hi-Tech Media Engine with a dedicated ProRes accelerator specifically for pro video processing.
